This role offers the chance to work with state-of-the-art equipment, supported by a collaborative team, in a friendly and professional environment. Job specification - Examine patients' eyes, conduct tests, and use ophthalmoscopes, bio microscopes, and other specialized instruments to determine ocular health and visual efficiency. - Prescribe and provide treatment (excluding surgery) to maintain, improve, and correct vision and manage other ocular diseases and disorders. - Prescribe, dispense, and fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids. - Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other physicians and surgeons for treatment of ocular diseases or conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, and systemic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure. - Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to provide pre and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries such as laser vision correction. Candidate requirements - Must have obtained an undergraduate degree in Optometry and be registered with the General Optical Council (GOC). - Must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience in the UK. - Permit to work in the UK. - Should possess the ability to explain medical terms simply and calmly. - Must know how to use examination tools, such as Ophthalmoscope and tonometer. Role scope
- Deliver sight tests, clinical assessment and patient communication to a consistently high standard.
- Use professional judgement around referral, clinical escalation and patient education.
- Work with the practice team to keep clinics safe, smooth and commercially aware without rushing clinical quality.
