Job specification - Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment. - Collaborate with opticians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and holistic patient care. - Diagnose and manage various eye conditions, including glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy. - Perform thorough eye examinations to assess visual acuity and detect ocular diseases or abnormalities. - Prescribe and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses, ensuring the highest standard of patient care. - Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgery. Candidate requirements - Degree in Optometry (OD) with relevant experience. - Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC). - A minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience as an optometrist, with references available. - Ability to work 38 hours a week on a flexible schedule, including weekends. - Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining CPD points. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Role scope
- Deliver sight tests, clinical assessment and patient communication to a consistently high standard.
- Use professional judgement around referral, clinical escalation and patient education.
- Work with the practice team to keep clinics safe, smooth and commercially aware without rushing clinical quality.
