As a Locum Optometrist, you will have the opportunity to apply your skills in conducting comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose visual disorders, and offer expert advice on eye care. Job specification - Diagnose and treat a variety of eye conditions, including glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. - Engage with the local community through eye health awareness programs and screening events. - Keep meticulous records of patient histories, examination results, treatment plans, and follow-up visits. - Offer expert advice to patients on maintaining optimal eye health, including the proper use of contact lenses and the importance of routine eye check-ups. - Perform in-depth eye examinations utilizing advanced diagnostic tools to assess vision and identify eye conditions. - Prescribe and customize eyewear, including glasses and contact lenses, to meet individual patient needs. - Provide essential care before and after eye surgeries, ensuring patients' recovery and ongoing eye health. - Respond promptly to urgent eye health issues, providing immediate and effective care. Candidate requirements - Fully qualified Optometrist. - Current registration with the General Optical Council (GOC). - Permit to work in the United Kingdom. - Up to Date Enhanced DBS certificate. - Strong clinical and communication skills. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Role scope

  • Deliver sight tests, clinical assessment and patient communication to a consistently high standard.
  • Use professional judgement around referral, clinical escalation and patient education.
  • Work with the practice team to keep clinics safe, smooth and commercially aware without rushing clinical quality.

  • Saturdays, late clinics, locum dates or permanent rota expectations.

  • Fully qualified Optometrist.
  • Current registration with the General Optical Council (GOC).
