As a Locum Optometrist, you will be essential in helping patients maintain and improve their vision and overall eye health. Job specification - Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe environment for both patients and staff. - Address urgent eye health concerns, offering immediate care and making referrals when necessary. - Collaborate with opticians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. - Diagnose and manage eye conditions, including but not limited to glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy. - Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and proper use of corrective lenses. - Maintain up-to-date and accurate patient records, including treatment plans and follow-up care notes. - Perform detailed eye examinations to assess visual acuity and detect ocular diseases or abnormalities. - Prescribe and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses, ensuring that each patient's visual needs are met. Candidate requirements - Degree in Optometry (OD) with relevant experience. - Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC). - A minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience in optometry, with references available. - Ability to work flexibly across different locations within Bingley, West Yorkshire. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient care.
